Moving electric eel long distance

I'm going to be moving in a couple months, and part of that is going to involve hauling my electric eel (and numerous other animals) some 1300 miles.

I saw the big thread on here about moving fish with sponge filters and etc to keep the cycle, but what sort of actual container do you guys think would be good here? He's about 40" give or take, and the last thing I want is him dying on the trip because I did something stupid.

Also the only vehicles involved are a moving truck (he could maybe go in the cab if needed?), or a prius with a bunch of other animals.
 
As an air breather, it should be fine without a filter...I'd expect controlling the temperature would be the most important part. I'd imagine a large rubbermaid tote would do the trick.
