Ok i have a few questions about moving my fish around just wanted a few opinions.......

First I am going to move my two blue pacus (about 2 -2.5 inches) in with my green texas cichlid(about 3-4 inches) in a twenty gallon tank. think this should be ok ......the cichlid is territorial like the pacus so i am going to rearrange the tank and put the three of them in together.

Second I am going to put my two african brown knives(1.5-2 inches) in my 20 gallon community tank in exchange for my pacus. The community tank has a veil angel, rosy barb, three red eye tetras, and a cory cat.

Was wondering if these moves would be ok...They will only be in there for a week or two , just until i get my 55 gallon.
And just wondering (isn't as important as the other questions) Would the cichlid, pacus and knives be compatible in a 55 gallon for a couple of months?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciatied..........

That should work, only temporarily though. By the time you get your 55 up and running you may already need to start looking for a bigger home for the pacus though. They grow like weeds and will not last long in that size tank. I'd suggest saving yourself the trouble of constantly upgrading and look for something more permanent now. Just my 0.02

well i tried the move......everything was working for a while then all of a sudden the blue gourami started attacking the pacus.......i dont know why, im guessing territory though.....so i just put them back in the community with everything else........thanks for the help though......i'd love to upgrade to the bigger tank now but im getting a good deal on the 55 and i dont have room right now for anything bigger......thats why in a couple of months im upgrading.........the pacus arent growing as fast as i planned either which im happy(i've had them for about a month and a half the have barely grown 1/2 an inch)............. but thanks for the advice...............

if they do fight, you can cool down their temper by adding orange peel of one orange and one table spoon of listerine.

where did you get this idea from if you don't mind my asking? also, how are these 2 things supposed to stop the fish from fighting?

:)

Well... at least they will be chasing each other around with fresh clean breath. :D

Listerine???? Please explain a bit more because i think you have left a few of us a bit confused. Out of interest have you ever used this technique before.
