Moving fish long distance.

When I moved I found the deepest rubbermaid that I could. I cut out holes in the lid that were just big enough for the intakes of my marineland c-360 and fluval 305 (I also cut holes for airline tubing). Then all I had to do was hook up a power converter and run an extension cord to the back of the truck.

Fyi everyone. You can get various wattage inverters at Harbor Freight really cheap. You should keep one on hand for emergency if your power ever goes out. You will stay busy moving plugs around and run your car a lot but can be a life saver. Lots cheaper than a genset that sits in the garden shed for years at a time.

Even some of the biggest inverters are cheaper than a generator...you could run all your aquarium equipment during a long move with just one inverter...now an aquarium heater may require some consideration. ..but the nice thing about aquarium equipment is that most list the power consumption in wattage....so sizing an inverter for the move is simple addition.

Another FYI: I am only planning on taking my air breathers with me.about 25-30 feet of polys and one of my lungfish. My primary concern is water sloshing.

battery powered air pumps . Blue tote. drill holes on the top for the hose. And.... because im a mover. ... don't forget your two wheeler and tape !! movers tape does wonders to prevent sloshing !
