Ive been trying to search for things like "moving with fish" and "long drives" and what not but I give up.

What I was looking for is what I need to prepare 3 datnoids for about a 4 hour trip.Should I see if my LFS will help me bag them up?

I'm meeting someone half way so I don't wanna be buying something like a cooler for them if I'm just gonna have to pass it on.

I don't suppose they would be okay in a few 5 gallon buckets for that long?

thanks in advance

Ive transported several fish over 5.5 hours without one problem. Once using a styrofoam box and an airstone and last time just keeping them in their bags the whole way. With trips under 6 hours temp is really your only concern. you want to keep it as constant as possible...if you can do that all else should be just fine.

They should be fine, temp. consistancy is really helpful/necessary.

There is an article by HarleyK you should read. Check out the articles forum.

Don't feed them for a few days before transport.

ya 4-5 hours isnt a big deal just when you get into the 12+ hour trips you have to be careful ...

Agreed. In those cases I would run an adapter for an airstone and heater in a large cooler.

but you should be fine having your fish in some nice large bags and kept between 65-80 degrees...no fast changes in temp is whats most important
