I would like to hear as many peoples moving stories as possible. Meaning you have to move to a new location and you wanna bring all 20 of your tanks and fish with you. I am moving in 1 month and have about 11 tanks and fish to move. in the past I have just siphoned the water right out the window of my 5th floor apt into buckets keeping about half of it from each tank. Load the fish in cooler break the tank down and go do a quick setup at the new place one tank at a time. I've read about going cross country somewhere on here but I believe I would sell off as much as possible keeping only irreplaceables and start anew.
what's your technique?

my brother drove from iowa to california with his. he spent about 2.5 days driving. he used his tank water in the buckets where he kept the fish. at hotel stops along the way, he did small water changes in the bucket which had no filtration. i believe he stopped twice. he kept a bottle of dechlor on him as he was driving and did no feeding. he kept the filters he had running on the tank originally as well

Buy an airpump that runs on batteries. Will make this much smoother. How far are you moving? If its across town you probably dont even need to do that. I would just get everything else moved into your house, have where you want the tanks planned...fill up enough buckets and coolers with aquarium water to hold your fish, and start making runs and setting up tanks. This is where you are going to want to call your friends, and where you will find out who your true friends are. (Exe: my friend anthony was the only guy that helped me move a saltwater setup into my house) :D

my boyfriend and I had to move a 75g and a 90g and when it came down to it, it was only us! Being qutie new to the hobby also, we were not sure how to bring them so we bagged them, brought them, set up the tank and filled it with the water we had sitting, but it was too cold for them(didn't think of heating it before hand).. thankfully all the bigger fish lived yet the small ones bit the bullet!!

im building a 1000L tank in the back of my truck with pumps filters etc.. going to take a drive from the uk to germany to pick up some fish

I just set up my 125 in the new place...moved the fish from the 55 to it in buckets, brokedown 55..... moved 55 to new place. Set up 55. Moved fish from 29 to the 55. broke down 29, moved 29 to new place,......well, you get the picture.

I'd suggest some rubbermaid tubs add spongefilters/HOB/Canisters then move fish and water in there move to new location set up tank and transefer fish/filters onto the new tank vola....Pretty much the Article on moving monster fish
