i think i will be upgrading my tank.. which means i will be buying a new tank and putting it in place of the old one. so i will have to move my three small dats out and put them somewhere in the mean time and set up and cycle the other tank. anyone have any special tips in the procedure i might be carying out? one more question.. im gonna be keeping the same wet dry set up on the new tank.. so all the old media will be there, how long would it take the tank to cycle with all old media?

thanks

it should cycle right away if you use half the old water, the old gravel and decor, and the w/d.

add temperature matched dechlorinated water, hook up the wet/dry, let it run for about 20minutes, acclimate and add the fish.

I've done that several times and have never lost a fish because of it.

As long as you leave the biomedia underwater, your tank will be cycled instantly.

you can also try bringing your fish to a lfs you trust to baby sit your fish for you if you really dont want to roll the dice. just make sure they dont sell your fish
