I have to move my fish soon and I was wondering what was the safest way to go about it? Like do I need to buy bacteria or just have enough old water have old bacteria. Use aquarium salt etc

I have to use the same tank so should I keep them in buckets for a couple days? Tank size is 100 gallons

Get totes. Keep your biological filtration media in water warm and oxygenated if possible. Keep fish warm and oxygenated also. Water carries almost 0 bacteria so keepimg the tank water will not help you. If you are going to keep fish in the moving containers for more then a few days be prepared to do water changes and feed sparingly. If your bio media is handled properly you should be able to set up the tank quick and easy.
Some bottled bacteria works some doesn't. Ive always had good luck with microbacter7 from Brightwells. Using this according to direction I was able to start tanks and have fish in the tanks while new.

Plastic bins or totes will work. Suggest as twentyleagues twentyleagues has mentioned already.

A battery inverter that plugs into your car's cigarette lighter can be a good investment too. Can be used to power your filtration during transit and after that you can use it to power a fridge on a camping trip if you want ?

Agree with the others, all beneficial bacteria's on objects, not planktonic ic water, to save bacteria you need to keep decor like substrate , filter media, wood, rocks, etc damp. Saving old water does nothing as far as bacteria go.
Recently I put all fish in buckets for about 3 days, while I repaired my tank, I used air pumps, and spread them out into as many as I could get a hold of.
