right now i have a 20 gallon. in it is:

1x chocolate albino pleco (~5")
9x tiger barb (~1.5" ave.)
1x emerald green cory (~2")

i'm looking at moving up to a 55 (48x13x19 i think)

here's what im thinking to add:

1x thomasi pleco (L-188a) OR rubber pleco (L-56)
4x tiger barb
3x boesemani rainbow

not sure if this is too sparse, just right, or too many. any compatibility issues? totally open to ideas here, just have to work with what i will already be moving over from the 20 gal tank.

you have enough space to accomodate the additional fish in a 55 gal. my only concern is tiger barbs being true fin nippers. it's been years since i actually had any, but i do recall them being nippers. i don't think they will be an issue with the plecos or the cory. i was more concerned with eh 3 rainbows, but it will probably work. rainbows are quick swimmers. i say go for it.

sounds okay to me, but I'd have a few more of the rainbows, and maybe a peaceful cichlid as a "centerpiece" fish

put some german rams in...I love those fish

You should buy your cory some buddies, since they're a schooling fish, as well. I'd say a school of six would work well. You can either get more Emeralds, or they'll also school with the albino version of the Emerald, if you'd like some variety.

get more corys they are a schooling fish and get stessed when without others.
