so i work at petsmart and we have a holding peacock, id like to buy it and put it in my tank so i can grow the fry out BUT will the change of the water parameters kill the eggs? and input would be appreciated!

It all depends on the fish. Some will spit the eggs when stressed, some will continue to hold them. Change in water parameters shouldn't harm the eggs.

The female and the eggs should be fine. Was the female in a species only tank?

yes in the jacobferi (spelled wrong) peacock tank, but the female was a silver OB peacock, very interesting she had black spots like a peacock but she was all silver still, no orange

We get them here at the PetSmart close to my house as well. I've sold several holding females to customers and the female continues to hold them through the transport.

If your PetSmart was like the one I worked at for a couple of years they push in City Water and just treat it as enters the system... Almost like a massive drip system in the sump.

Depending on the water in your tank there might not be any change in your parameters. Here the PH usually runs about 7.8-7.9 and the cichlids seem to do ok in it. Which isn't to far off what my tank runs at. Just be sure to get the large bags you guys have. The less stress the better

And someone said something about a tumbler at the store... Sadly that's aginst P/S policy. Our district manager made us pull the babies out and throw them away(still alive).... Baby mollies, guppies, and we even had convicts spawn once. They can not be given to customers and can't stay in the store since they arnt part of inventory, but that's why I quit the job. There is several animal cruelty wether they admit it or not. One animal gets sick and they just simply replace it with another so no ones the wiser.

Uhhhh I can't rant for ever about how much I dis like them but it is what it is.
