Hey yall, this weekend im picking up a new 75 gallon tank and the current owner said I can take it as long as I take the pleco. well, the pleco is 16" long. so, I need to move it about..1 - 2 hours in the car to my house. and then, set it up in the tank. I really need to know what kinds of things I can gather up this week in order to move this monster sized pleco to its new home. if at all possible, I would also like to move an 11" oscar and a 9" RTC all in the same day.

please let me know as soon as possible so I can plan this out with the owner!

Thank You all!!!:headbang2

get a rubbermaid
should be enough and also get a lid for the rubbermaid!
i suggest you get something called bagbuddies
they are oxygen pills that release oxygen into the water
put like 10 in the rubbermaid and you will be good to go

so, would something like a 30 gallon clear plastic tote box work? it has a lid that locks on the sides, but getting it inside with that much weight would be a problem. would a LPS sell those bag buddies?
thanks!

30 gallons should be perfect!
as for getting it around yes! its hard
but with 2 people should be no issue
bagbuddies are avail at your LFS
i think they are made by jungle!

OH P.S for ammonia build up add 2 cap fulls of prime into the container

It's a pleco, they breed in virtually waterless mudholes lol. Just pick it up and sling it in a rubbermaid with some water, it will be fine. The Oscar and RTC need a bit more planning though, battery operated air pumps are cool (I use a little air-powered sponge filter with some cycled sponge too).

Get a small water pump that you can run off your car outlet and buy a converter for the plug. put a small tube on the pump vertically with a two liter (upside down with the bottom cut off) around it. Fill the two liter with scrubbies and cut holes in the bottom of the two liter to drain water. put it and the fish in a large Rubbermaid and your set. moved a 13 inch marbled motoro ray this way on a 8 hour trip. i will draw a picture to give you a better idea and scan it in.

hmm.........the one im most worried about is the RTC. the pleco, no biggie. the oscar is hardy, but still pretty big, so probably another tote for him. and then, the RTC might be able to go in my 5 gallon bucket, because my dad who said it was 9" isnt very good at guestimating. hahahaha. but the owner of the pleco said it was 16". im excited!!!
I am going to look into those bag buddies and such. oh, and thanks for the art!!! beautiful, mate. haha

thank you all for the help!!! I will post some pics!!!!!!! :D

I just moved my 20"+ catfish with a 7 dollar rubbermaid from walmart, and a battery powered airpump with an airstone. He stayed in there for about 2 hours or so while the tank was set up, and was fine.

I bit my tongue long enough:D.

Get a 18 gallon tub(sterlite 8 or $9).

Stuff the monsters in there.

They will be good in there for up to 4-6 hours without a air thingy mijiger. Your crazy driving will stir the water enough to get air in the water.

I transported a 14" oscar, 2 17" common plecos, a 5" frontosa, and a 5" JD to every LFS in town for over 2 hours so I could find a LFS that would take them.
