My silver is about 12" long and I'm wondering if he is too small to put in with a 16" clown knife and a couple large pacu in my much larger tank? I have a gt,jd,midas and a jag in this tank also. The only fish I'm worried about harming the aro would be the pacu(they seem to think everything is food--lol). I have to move my trimac out of the big tank because she is a beautiful but crazy mean fish..The only tank I have available is the arowana tank. This trimac has killed one of my previous aros :WHOA:so putting the trimac and aro together is out of the question..

I would greatly appreciate your input!!!
Thanks all,
Chris

The pacu are veggie eaters and the clown knife would be fine.

I would actually be worry about the jag, GT, and JD. All these cichlids are pretty aggressive.

Most of the fish in my large tank are laid back and passive unless provoked(which the trimac is doing a good job of harassing them--in fact I had tf barb jump out last night due to her,I found him in time:D)..Mdas is the king of the tank though...Well first things first--I have to get some glass or acrylic for tops before I move the aro -- if I move the aro...

P.S. I'm still interested in the black aro- phishy I'll pm you:headbang2

Thanks all,
Chris

My large tank is 300 gal.. My other tank is a 180.. My 12" aro is currently in a 75..

Thanks,
Chris

300 gallon would totally be fine. If you say all those other cichlids are passive, the silver should be fine.

I would be more worried about the clown knife. A hungry clown knife can be aggressive when the lights go off, especially if you have not feed it for more than a day or so.
It's a hard one to call whether it will work. From experience I probably wouldn't. If the aro was around 24'' then I might consider it if the tank was big enough. With clown knives involved in the tank, I would prefer the tank to be at least 2.5' high to keep more of a buffer between the top level and bottom levels of the tank.

How big is your tank ?
