Hey guys,

I'm moving my tanks this weekend ( a 20gal. and a 55gal) across town, and i have a pretty good game plan, and lots of help. but i was wondering if any of you (those of you that have moved) have some helpful tips? things that i wouldn't know unless i have done it before. i never have had to move my tanks so this is new ground for me. your advice is much appreciated.

Air pumps and air stones are always handy they'll give you more time to leave the fish in buckets, and make sure you atleast keep your media wet with tank water, and your substrate too if possible. That's about all I can think of.

Hello; Keep in mind that the first rule of picking up something heavy is to already have a place ready to sit it down. With tanks this is a little more critical. Watch out for door knobs and other protrusions that the tanks will pass by. Dont leave anything laying around on any surfaces where you plan to sit a tank down, glass bottom tanks do not sit onto objects very well. Is it possible to move one tank at a time, so as to always have a tank set up in case of the need.

I am moving my tanks and fish 1600 miles this weekend. Our game plan at this point is to put fish in 5 gallon buckets with lids. We got a power inverter so we can run an air pump and air stones in each bucket for the duration of the trip(~26-30 hours). Each bucket will get dosed with Prime and we will do small water changes as we can. And we plan to float some biomedia in each tank to keep the biofilter alive.
