only a couple miles away, maybe 12-15 miles??? around there. I have a 110 gallon fish tank with some cichlids in there, about 5 inches each (more or less) does that help???
Put them in buckets with portable air pumps...it shouldn't be much different than buying new fish from the store. Now a 1000 plus mile trip is a different story haha.
Place a hefty bag in a container (bucket or rubbermaid) and then fill the bag up. Tie off the bag so that water doesn't spill out all over the place when you are driving to your new abode.

In that case, I would drain the water to a large ice chest, keep your bio media in a mesh bag and submerge it there and then add fish, lightly cover and add a airpump.
then drain everything, move the tank to the new place, fill up the tank and bring the water to temperature. Lastly, move the fish to the tank, install your filter(with the submerged biofilter stuff)...ideally you do this before the real move so you have plenty of time...last time I moved with my 100, I moved the fish one day ahead of the main move.
