Preparing for my new tank to come, and so I had to rearrange a bit in my room today. I think I was more stressed about the emptying of the tanks and taking the fish out than they were about being put in buckets. The worst was my pleco, even if I got him with the net he would just flip out of it into the water again, and not wanting to stress him out even more I just grabbed him by hand (he's about 6 and a half inches long) and put him in the bucket. He was not a fan of that.
But everything went well. Only one fish jumped out of the bucket as I was pulling back the cover to add the others in and that was my dominant albino ice blue zebra cichlid. She has given me problems since day one of bringing her home so that was just expected. But she's perfectly alright, swimming around chasing all the others like normal. I am so excited for the new 55 gallon.
My oscar and JD will enjoy it, until they get too large for it and then it will be the Africans tank. So it was worth the stress of moving them all around today.
I really just need to decide the final for my 55 gallon. I'd like to get some loaches to go with them but I would love, love, love to get a black knife ghost fish but I don't know if I want to take the risk of it with the JD and Oscar, mostly the JD. Hedwig, my oscar shows little to no interest in it's tank mates. Once they get to the point of needing a tank change, they will be moved into a 100 gallon. ((*** or maybe a 125 or so if I can find one at a reasonable price))
Any opinions or experiences or recommended tank mates would be wonderful and well appreciated!
