I am ordering a 75 gallon for my ever growing predators this weekend. I plan on getting it set up at school over the next few weeks. But I have a few questions.
I currently have an aqua clear 500 and an Emperor 200 on the 30 breeder (30" x 18") the preds are in. If I move those to the 75, can I get by with an additional Emperor 400 or will I need something else? Another aquaclear perhaps? Canisters are out for now as the tank has to sit on a counter, with no space underneath.
Second, a question on stocking.
I currently have a 6" Senegal Bichir, a 6" peacock eel, a 3" pictus catfish, a 3" Nandus nandus, a 5" African Brown Knife, a 4" Silver dollar and a 3" African butterfly fish.
I had a Crazy Fish, Butis butis, at one time, but he was unhealthy from day one and died on me. I'd like to get another as he was by far the most awesome fish I'd ever owned. They don't come in that often, but I can order one... my only question is would he be a danger to the Butterfly fish or any of the others? The original one was in with the Nandus when he was just 2" long, and the Butis was 4-5". No problems there. But I don't want to get one if he will snack on my other fish.
Finally, would I eventually be able to add a Severum to this grouping? I will be moving the whole lot into a 125 next spring ('0 and may even be able to swing a 180 (I have been saving money for a year and a half now). Which would be most appropriate? I will be able to use canisters in the larger tank.
I plan on using sand as my substrate and would like to find a nice looking piece of root wood to cover with Java Fern and use as my center piece. I plan on doing large volume (50%) water changes on this tank twice a week.
