so friday i sign the lease and move with a roommate. i dont have to be out of my apartment until jan 15th but im going out of town for 2 weeks. i've got three tanks set up now, 10g 20g long and 55g, and plan on having 4 tanks set up at the new place, 2x55g 125g and 10g. my plans for moving is to set up the 125g asap and move the inhabitants from my 55g into this tank. then ill move my currently set up 55g over then the inhabitants from the 20g to this tank. i will be building a double 55g stand to fit both tanks. the 10g will remain as is b/c im going to do the 20g as a reef this summer.

in my bedroom
10g - betta, neons, otos
55g - breeding pair of severums
55g - 4" indo dat, senegal, dehlezi

living/dining room
125g - fei feng, true parrot, chocolate cichlid, severum, 3 jurupari, royal pleco

anyone have experience moving with multiple tanks?

Don't have experience with more than one yet, but it sounds like you've got a good plan. Make sure you invest in a couple battery operated air pumps to put in whatever containers you are going to move your fish in. This will greatly increase their survival rate! I'd set up the 125 asap so it can be cycling or finish cycling before you move. Use some of the media and water from your current tanks to get this one going so it can cycle and not shock the fish any more than they already will be.

the move is less than 5 miles. im moving my xp3 and ac110 from the existing 55g and adding a fx5 to the 125g. on the 55g ill put my ac70 and another ac110 so they dont have to recycle

Are you going to get a moving van or just transport a few tanks at a time?, and do you use any pillows, old mattresses, blankets to shield the tanks during the ride?

I'm curious because I might be moving too.

ill be transporting everything in my 4runner. im going to be putting fish in rubbermaid bins to transport them. ill do one tank at a time like i described in my first post

Yeah, if you're moving them in an SUV that is carpeted, etc. you should haven't to worry about them sliding around, etc. They won't go anywhere unless you slam the brakes on, etc. You'll have more of a challenge keep the water from sloshing out of the bins than the tanks moving around.

rebbermaid tubs and coolers.. buckets are also helpful for gravel/sand.. other than that is sounds like youve got it down.. good luck

rubbermaids, empty out all the tank contents keep bio media alive, I left my fish in the rubbermaids with my filters on for a day or two with np while
