Hi Guys! So I bought this lungfish 3 1/2 y ago and I brought it home in a container that had a quart of water. Now it is a massive 3ft long curious creature. I have him an a 125 long. I am going to move 5h away in a couple months and I was wondering if anyone had some ideas about how to catch him and transport him. I would like to not freak him too much and he can get quite hectic and hurt himself when scared. My plan is to empty most of the tank and catch him in a pillow case while he is hidden in his pipe (i have big pipes in the tank where he hides). Then pull him out of the water and quickly transfer him to a plastic tub (the kind used for storage) with 10’inch of water so there will be some air left. I will then put the plastic tub in my car and drive ghere with a constant temp. I plan to have yhe new tank ready at my new place so i can transfer him back right when i arrive. Does it sound like a good plan? Any idea is welcome.

Your plan sounds good to me.

Definitely needs an air pump, I don’t think a heater will be crucial if it’s inside the car. I would use a large container like you mentioned, one that has a lid ideally (for your cars sake) and poke several holes for air. 5 hours isn’t too major but you definitely need that bubbler. I would avoid feeding the day or two before as well. Sort of assuming he’s getting a tank upgrade?

Idk yet the type of tank he willl get but im probably going to stay on a 125 or 150. I wish i could bring his tank but it is cheaper to buy a new one than to have the movers take the old one. Also, since the lease in only 14 months it means i might have to move again in a year. Im thinking maybe getting either another 125 long or one of these blue rectangle stock tanks that have a window. I do have some battery powered bubblers for emergency. I thought they were not going to be necessary since he breathes athmospheric air but i can definitely use them.

Hello. First of all, can we see pics? Second, get a bubbler and put him in as large a cooler/tank. What truck do you have? Does it have an outlet? If so, plug in a heater. More will chime in. That would be my reccomenation.
I do not drive a truck. I never drove one in my life in fact... and there is no electric plug for a heater in my car. But im pretty sure i will be able to keep the temp constant. I can also put an electronic thermometer in the water and the non driving person can check it from times to times.
