MP or crickets for my arowana?

Hi there,


I have recently bought 3 golden head xback arowanas and the guy that sold me the fishes to me told me NEVER EVER feed my new arowanas with crickets as it makes the scales dirty (darker in colour). He insisted on a MP only diet to keep the fish looking clean. How true is this?
