Just a quick hello from K-town.

As much as I know this will sound a little hokey, my wife and I are getting back into fish after my 15 year hiatus. We were in Wal-Mart(shudder) and saw one of the most pathetic female beta's Ive ever seen stuck in a nasty container that looks like it had not been touched in months. I got a bug in my butt and grabbed the fish as well as a bowl and stormed to the cashier. Instead of *****ing we quietly purchased the fish($2.99) and took her home. The bowl lasted all of 2 days, and she now lives in a 26 gl in the living room.

The purchase of the beta lit a fire in my wife, and shes been surfing sites to learn, and learn quickly she has. So now, Im told we are getting back into it in a big way, and its all your fault... :screwy:

After that story, you guys must be thinking WTF is this guy doing on MFK, but I(she) couldnt have found a better site. Ive always loved larger fish, especially cichlids and in my time, Ive taught/volunteered at the Vancouver Aquarium, kept up to 2500 gallons in the house, and even had an above ground pool in the garage for my P.Bass. My faves include obviously the bass, central and south cats, and my all time fave, the Frontosa. In fact, I prefer just about anything African.

So hello to you all. I cant thank the creators of this forum enough, because it is one hell of a sweet site. We hope to make some new friends, and learn many new things from this group.

Looking forward to making your acquaintance....

Hi everyone ;) great to be here. I've been obsessively lurking long hours the past few days, trying to start absorbing the massive amounts of information here. Awesome site ya'll've built.

Although I really hate to do this in a first post, I do feel the need to correct the tank size that the Mr. posted......its a 16g. But its currently a happy betta. :) I'm calling this my "learning tank" since my last fish experience was also 20 years ago, but I was 10 and had relatively short lived (less than a year) stock of typical mollies, tetras, and guppies. However, we don't have the space for the size of setup I know he wants so this is what I get to learn with until we get the garage built and can get some big stuff for his fronts.

If there are any other MFKers in our area we'd love to meet you and your fish.
