My Midas is about 12" now in a 80 gallon tank.
Pretty sure he'd love a new tank.
I was thinking a 125 gallon tank but now I'm considering adding a few other things,
since me and a buddy are considering doing a fatt ass order in a few months.
Amphilophus sp. 'Red Istletas'
Amphilophus Chancho
and maybe another fish out of the midas complex, course I'd be adding multiples of each, and maybe another Barred Midas.
Not all of the fish will stay in the 180 for life.
I'd probably sell some of them off, once they put on some size!

I was thinking of going around a 6 x 2 x 2 - 180 gallon.
What's your guys opinion.
 
Most likely not in a 125. A 180g you might have a chance, but it all depend on your male's temperment. Honestly, its a long shot and if you have a female of either your male will most likely pair up and then it's all down hill from there. My Male is only 7 1/2" and female is alittle over 6" and they don't even tolerate a pleco. I would do some smaller to medium cichlids that won't pose a threat. Midas tend to be more tolerable of smaller fish that are more of a dither. Also clown loaches and other schooling fish could help reduce agression. You could also just get a larger tank, move him and put something else in the 75g.;)
 
i've had experience with a lot of CA's and i really wanna try a midas complex community.
other communities like a vieja amphilophus parachromis community i found pretty boring.
a midas complex community looks like it could be interesting.

my male is probably the most aggressive fish i have ever seen.
but around a lot of smaller fish he leaves them alone.

just the big guys has he ever had some beef with.
 
yeah, i'm guessing they'll all be around 3-4".
he doesn't eat fish for some reason either lol.

argentea's, synspilum, pearsei, hartwegi, dovii, and 2 plecos.

he kinda just minded his own business and his head got nice a fatt for a few months.

but we'll have to see once i go through with the plan, if i doo!
