Anyone into Giant centipepes or tarantulas. The Vietnamese Giant Centpede has got to be the troughest aminal on 48 legs. One of mine got his head stuck in ther lid of the container and ripped the whole damn thing off. Then ran around like a c razy, well centpede for 3 days before expiring. Can't keep these anymore because thney are escape artists and w/ 5 mo old twin girls it is not the thing to do (at least that is what my better half says). So I now keep tarantulas. recently got a 6 inch Indian Ornamental, 6 inches long with blue & yellow legs & geometric grey patterns on abdomen. Cool as ****, but I have to wake up in the morning at 3 AM w/ a flashlight to see it.

Anyone keep these inverts and bred them? Got a good story. I heard centpedes are loving parents. Go figure!

I have not kept centipedes but have kept tarantulas, bark scorpians, and praying mantis, the only story I have cosists of being awaken at 0300 hrs by a couple roomies in the barracks, they were both standing on their bunks, in their skivvies and yelling at me because Raoul the Trinidad chevron tarantula was out in the middle of the floor, considering it was about 6" across and both these guys were over 6' it was pretty funny.

You should look into the venom of your indian ornamental (poecilotheria regalis)
There are mixed reports, but it seems the venom may have severe neurological affects, including respiratory depression.
They sure are beautiful though, look up peocilotheria metallica.
Some beautiful tarantulas that are safer are:

avicularia versicolor (antilles pink toe)
Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens (green bottle blue)
brachypelma smithi
...
let me know if you need any more suggestions

I was going to keep a poecilotheria species, but decided that a bite may kill my cat, little kids may be just as vulnerable.
