So, visited my girlfriend's parents this weekend and came home with her old 30g, iron stand, and misc. equipment. Since the iron stand holds 2 tanks, I also took advantage of Jack's $1 per gallon sale here in Cincy to get a second 30g to put on the stand. Happy new year to me!

While not monster tanks, I still can't quite get my mind around what a typical residential house will hold. I was an EE by degree, so I slept through these classes in college. I am hoping those of you who have done some serious tank engineering can give me some advice.

1) Placement: my 55g is in my master bedroom. My first choice for location for the twin 30g tanks is in the kitchen, but it's on the opposite side of the wall from my 55g. The floor joists run PARALLEL to the length of the existing tank and proposed tank. So the 2x30g would be sitting on the other side of a non-load bearing wall on 2 different floor joists. Does this seem OK, or is it just too close??? Even if I go somewhere else with the 2x30g, is a 55g OK sitting parallel to the joists?

2) Leveling: I messed around with empty tanks and the new tanks are about 1/8" out of level front to back. It's not twisting, and this is the exact same thing my 55g does. Should I worry?

Bump.
