ive got live plants in my tank including a floating hornwort. i was thinking of either a pleco or snails for eating any extra food and controlling the algae growing on the wood.
my concern was my plants until i read that mts snails dont mess with them. my tank is a gravel bottom. occupants include silver aro, clown knife, and irredescent shark.
would mts snails do well or should i grab some plecos instead?

they will not eat your live plants. they will hide in the gravel most of the time and only come out at night. i like them as clean up for my tanks. they breed rapidly and will end up in your filters and powerheads. they are great for stiring your gravel and eating organics that fall in the gravel.

there the most annoying thing i have come across in my time fishkeeping!! i hate them more than when you see money on the floor so ya go to pick it up but ya can't then after about ten minutes you realise its glued to the floor! someone done it to spite you lol or is that just me  lol:ROFL:

i just can't kill 'em!! i tried treatments and loads of loach species too!! and no i can't get them out of my tank and send them to anyone before anyone asks!

Why you want to get rid of them? All you can do is population control.

question about identifying them. At my lfs they have snails in some tanks with the spiral. they look pretty much like the mts pics i see around.
they dont know what kind they are but if they look like it is it safe to assume they are mts?

may not be Mts but is some type of ts. they are all about the same. i have had 3 types pf trumpet snails and none eat plants.

i want to get rid of them because they get into filters and block them up and block undergravel filters up.

I concur, I hate the little buggers too. They are a fugly and a nusense.
The only way that I got rid of them was to tear down the tank that was
INFESTED with them and let it and the substrate dry out completely.
