Mud turtle urine or musk?

do turtles pee?
i just liften up my turtle and found a puddle of yellow liquid...
and it smelled extremely nasty..

musk or urine?

yes turtles pees. A lot of breeds even pees as a defensive mechanism when picked up. Could, on the other hand, be an excretion of musk.

Leave it be. Do not pick it up unless you have to.

Ever considered you own a musk turtle? :/ We have an adult and hatchling at the nature center that see dozens of people a day and go through quite a lot of activity, and havent musked, even living with larger turtles.

it was alot of liquid though!
and I'm surprised since I've been getting info that usually wil turtles musk alot..
he didn't even the first few days i brought him home.

but today i accidentaly hit his shell with a hose while rinsing the feeding tub..
