Hey everyone. Well, I'm getting my 110 gallon . I'm going to use river rocks for the substrate. I've used the rocks before with no problems. For the new rank I triple washed the rocks in small portion. I started to fill the tank with water and the new water was brown with sand and mud. Siphoned the water out and filled again. Still murky bet better. My question is should I turn on my filters to clean the water, wait until the water clears up more and then turn on the filters. I have 2 new Marineland 400 and they come with 2 carbon containers and 2 floss filter containers. What is the best solution. Thanks in advance, Ed.

Filters should be up and running. If you use a bucket wash it out before you refill

You may have some limestone rocks that are breaking down. Check you params to see if your water is getting "harder".

depends on the filter.if you have filtration before the pump/impeller - run them. if it goes through the pump/impeller before the filters - don't run it. it'll be like sandblasting the pump.
the emperors run through the impeller and then through the media, so all that grit is scratching and wearing away the impeller housing.
