I just picked up a pair of mudskippers... they were purchased in freshwater and have been living fine in freshwater for about a year or so...

my question is, should I slowly convert them to brackish or leave them alone? they are doing fine, just not sure if they would do better in brackish.. they are the vietnamese ones that people have had success with in freshwater... i just keep seeing conflicting information... thoughts??

I have a friend that has six of them and they do great in fresh water. They eat like crazy though, but very fun to watch.

Thanks.. Guess I will leave them as is in the freshwater...

I will post some pics once they settle in and I finish with their tank decor...

This is great news for me. There's a pet store that sells freshwater mudskippers and I hoped I wouldn't need to acclimate them to brackish water.

the vietnamese are the only ones you can consider in freshwater, but that being said they will do better in light brackish. Longer life spans and less likelyhood of contracting diseases.

If you keep them in fresh, it must be hard water with high PH, no soft acidic water for them.

these were purchased as vietnamese, and have been in fresh their whole lives... luckily I do have the water you mention jonny5... my tap is hard with high PH around 8...
