Aside from not disturbing bio media, would there be much of a benefit using say 2 smaller canisters vs 1 eheim 2262? this would be for a 120gallon tank for a fahaka.

I think the fx6 is amazing for mechanical filtration, but I’m not 100% sold on its bio filtration.

I know all the theories about multiple vs one Giant but I wanna know what your experience has been.

Two fx6 would give more turnover and capacity than one 2262, but the Eheim is probably better than two of any other canister besides Fluval.

I prefer two smaller canisters, if that is the decided way to go (versus sump, versus HOB's, or combinations).

What I don't get is this:
"I think the fx6 is amazing for mechanical filtration, but I’m not 100% sold on its bio filtration."
How is that possible? Isn't the only difference between bio- and mechanical filtrationsimply that in the first you make sure to rinse with used aquarium, or dechlorinated water, versus in mechanical you don't bother (i.e, use tap water or replace media)?

I think of bio media as Seachem matrix or bio home. For Seachem matrix I know I would need about 6 or 7lbs for a full cycle. I don’t think I can get that in 1 fx6. I can in two.
