As in a pre-made one. I know I saw a multi-level stand at a Home Depot a few weeks ago and it said something about holding a ton of weight per level blahblahblah.

So has anyone shunned/been intimidated by the DIY route and instead bought a multiple level stand from a hardware store?

I have some of the tear drop style gorilla rack for storage in the pantry. It holds a ton of weight and I would have no problem putting an aquarium or two on it. A link to what you are thinking about using might be helpful.

I'll look into that, thank you.

Generic shelf set-up basically. Nothing special.

As for tank size, a few 55's, several 10's. Something around that neighborhood.

Thought about it, but ended up using 2x4's and built my own rack for ~80% less than those racks cost.

I personally would not use anything but the heaviest duty racks they sell and change out the particle board shelves with 1" plywood. Also check the width carefully, the 4' models would be a problem if you plan on upgrading to a 48" x 18" tank, you won't be able to remove the tank once installed.
