Hi guys,

I made another thread about a fish ID I needed. The fish were too small then. They have gotten a little bit bigger and put on a little color. Hopefully this time around someone can ID it. Sorry for the crappy pics. Next I got some plants I collected locally that were snagged in my fishing line. And 3rd, I have a daphnia culture and I notice these darker organisms living with them. They don't swim in the jerky motion like the daphnia. They look round with blackish/bluish/greenish colors with some spots on them. As far as I know they are not harming the daphnia. Thanks

That first plant looks like Chara. If you break it does it smell bad? Still not sure what the fry are.

The fish is probably a fathead minnow. I can't help with the plant ID, but the things in with your daphnia almost look like scuds. It's just kinda hard to see them in that video.

Hi,

I have not tried to break or smell the plant. Also I don't think the fish are fry. Despite getting a lot of food they are staying small. I'd think they'd be bigger by now. I think they are a small fish species. Thanks for your reply.

I'm pretty much 100% positive that those are fathead minnows.

I am positive they are not scuds. They are small like the daphnia, they are round, and they have a dark color to them with some spots on their body. I suppose I could let the fish grow out more. But I doubt they are fry. They are still small though, only like 1/2-3/4 inch on the bigger ones.

the fishies look like river dace. i caught some erlier and fed them to my 5 chain pickerels and 1 largemouth bass. good feeder fish but die fast
