Hello everyone, after much help from the forums I've decided I'll probably get more than two fish. I want for sure an oscar and a green severum. Now I'm wondering if maybe my third would be just another oscar. Would that be a problem for the severum? Would they team up or something possibly? All advice, information and experience is greatly appreciated

If this is going into the 150 that you mentioned in your other thread, you have a chance. There is just no guarantee how it will work. You could end up with a pair of Oscars that won't tolerate tankmates or two Oscars of either sex that get along with everything. You could even get two Oscars that only fight each other. You just have to try it. A 150 will give them enough space though. You just never know what will happen until you try.

Oh yeah guys I'm sorry haha, it's a 150 gallon tank! And I have a pretty good filter, an XP3 (up to 175g.) Okay, that makes sense then thank you. So it also isn't a common occurance though? It's just hit or miss?

Should be fine.. Like Gruff Master said you'll never know until you try..

I may suggest that when the fish start to grow, it wouldn't hurt to add another filter.. Also you could add some Silver Dollars as didthers..

Another filter? Really? I thought mine was plenty, packing 350 gph. As far as I've read up on that was supposed to be able to hold its own against these big cichlids, but I'm sure you know something I don't. And what are you talking about, these 'didthers?'

Dithers are sometimes called target fish. The silver dollars are a good choice, they take a beating and keep on plugging away.

Been together for 8 months in a 90g. Will be moved to a 220g within a month or two.
