Hi, i have a 5x2x2 tank with a 7 inch bgk, 5xsilver dollers (6 inches), 5xclown loach (8 inches) a pair of angels and a plec could a add another bgk or other knife fish to this tank.

thanks

I read this better this morning, sorry

I wouldn't add another BGK. they do not like their own kind. At the lab, after a certain size, they are NOT kept together regardless.

However, they are sometimes kept with a couple other knives. Their is one BGK in with a ton of Eigemania. HE is kind of hostile but basically ignores them. There is a BGK kept with a large Gold line knife. They completely ignore each other. There is also a BGK in a large brown ghost group tank. I really don't know if this would work if it was just one bgk and one brown, because we never do that. In fact, we rarely keep just a couple browns together. but once again, because their is so many in the tank, it seems to be working.

but we never keep any decent sized bgk in a group tank...they would kill eachother

I agree about not mixing BGKs. It can sometimes work - I remember someone on here who had 2 big ones that had lived together for a long time.

But, in my case, when I added a 2nd one to my 120g all hell broke loose. It was actually pretty amazing to watch. My 8" BGK was normally pretty peaceful but as soon as I dropped the other one into the tank he came shooting out of his cave, despite all the lights being on, and started ramming it. Their mouths both opened really wide (they have much bigger mouths than I'd realized) and they started mouth locking, grappling and furiously spinning around each other. Never seen anything like it.

BGK are pretty territorial, so I wouldn't have more than one per tank.
