I had a betta that died of dropsey symptoms - bloated to the point the scales were sticking out, white/clear poop, breathing hard, stopped eating. I didn't think this was contagious so I didn't do anything. Then a few days after the betta died, my irian rainbow died of the same dropsey symptoms rather quickly. In the mean time, I noticed that my boesemani rainbow had a white sugar looking thing growing under his chin. I thought it was the first signs of ick and raised the temperature to 84F and added salt to the aquarium. The rainbow continued to eat and look healthy. However, the white thing kept growing more tubular and then fell off and another one is growing. I also noticed looking closely that there appeared to be fuzzy stuff sticking out between some of his scales - I could only see this when the light hit him right as he's swimming away. From normal viewing distance he looked beautiful. After a few days the fuzzy stuff wasn't so noticable but I saw small bubble like things that I think were moving on his body. I decided to do a treatment of Paragon II to get rid of any parasites in the tank. The bubble things seem to be gone but the white spot on the boesemani's chin keeps growing and falling off and he is loosing color and only 'tasting' his food. The 2nd day of treatment an angel stopped eating, swam at the bottom of the tank, breathed hard, pooped clear, and died- all in 12/hrs. This happend very quickly as he was pigging out like normal the 1st day of treatment. Now my 2nd angel is swimming on the bottom and not eating, though he's not breathing hard yet. I have done a partial water change and redosed the paragon II per instructions and have started to feed my fish the anti parasite food from Jungle. When my 2nd angel was still eating, I think he managed to eat a little of this. I will also mention that my water testings have come out great - nitrates, nitrites, amonia - 0, ph 7.2. Also, I had my water tested at the LFS just to be sure and they said everything looked good too. They were also able to add that the water is slightly soft, but good for the fish (don't know #). I have two clown loaches that are doing beautifully through all this. And my 5 geos are happy as ever. I should also mention that one of my geophaguses definately has ick but I don't see it on anyone else. How do I get this under control? Is there a way to save my unhappy angel? I just got a 10g to set up for a hospital tank, should I seperate any of these fish or is it best to treat them all at this point. Also, can I do salt treatments and parasite treatments at the same time? Thank you for any advice!
