I posted my fish room yesterday and wanted to get some opinions on some stocking options.
Current 75- 1 Blood Parrot,8 Giant Danio, 8 Julli Cory, 1 LF Albino BN pleco
-would like to add 1 or 2 more BPs and/or Severums
Current 55- 2 Angels, 3 Columbian Redfin tetras, 1 Blue eye lemon pleco, 1 Starlight pleco
- more CR tetras then open to ideas
Just fought off an ich outbreak in this tank for the last month that took out a few tetras)
- 40B (cycling) need ideas
-10 congo tetras, 2 Honduran reappoints, 1 BN pleco, school of corys
-40B #2 (cycling) no idea!
-55 #2 (cycling)
-4 Blue acaras, school of rust corys and or some kind of catfish (spotted Raphael or a Valentine zebra cat?)Red tail shark?, (need ideas for the rest)
-29g (cycling)
- school of tetras, school of corys, (ideas for a few centerpiece fish)(maybe some dwarf cichlids?)

I know its a lot of options/ideas but I have 2-3 weeks if not longer to figure it all out. All the cycling tanks started this week but all have some sort of seeded media to jump start them. Just looking for some opinions on what to add or if Im even on the right track as far as suitable tank mates etc. Im open to anything but do not have much experience with the more aggressive fish but love CA/SA cichlids, not ready for Africans I don't think yet. Also not a big fan of bettas, Platys, Mollys, guppys. More so looking to stock these tanks with some medium size cooler fish(besides the flower horn, we love them) than your average small schooling stuff.
Thanks in advance!

You could add a zig zag eel for your 55 gallon.
For a 40 gallon breeder a colony of shell dwellers or fairy cichlids would work, they aren’t mbuna cichlids.
A 29 gallon would look nice with a pair of keyhole cichlids and cardinal tetras.

Hello,
I think the stock lists you posted look good, you could add some small things if you wanted, like maybe some apistogramma in the 55 with the angels. If you like african cichlids, I think you will find they are not much more difficult, just different requirements. Just know your water parameters and use a pH & hardness buffer substrate if you need to, most of the africans like it 8-9ish and hard. There are other ways to do it but the substrate works and is easy. Some shelldwellers like mentioned would be nice, many other species like altolamprologus compressiceps that would work. Or some mbuna would be possible in a 55 gallon, like labidochromis sp. "perlmutt"

Ill have to look into the african cichlids more, I would love to do something with them just always thought they were difficult with the aggressiveness and do not want to be swapping fish left and right but ill do some more research

I think a lot of people start with yellow labs when they go to Africans

Could be an option for the 55g?

I would turn one of the 40g breeds into a LF/blue eyed lemon breeding tank and keep a school of small tetras for top activities...maybe some of the micro rasboras like chilies

I would probably do rams or kribs in the 29g

Soooo many options!!! You should take a walk down the fish isle at some fish stores and see what fish peek your interest and come home and research to see if they fit in with your setups

Ya thats what Ive been doing, nonstop research. I have a LFS across the street from me that is probably the best in NY, absolutely phenomenal, every fish i have has come from them and all very healthy except for a few clown loaches from a different store (that brought ich to one of my tanks when I first started). They have an awesome selection and the owner is extremely knowledgeable so hes been helping me. I love the pleco breeding tank idea. I just got a few super reds that are very small and currently in my QT tank.

Yea I am really wanting to do a 40g pleco breeding tank haha

If you have 40g it can also be the grow out tank if you keep the other fish small enough to not harm the pleco babies....

Gotta do more research on breeding plecos as well, breeding fish in general but I would absolutely love to breed different plecos

Mind if I ask what LFS? You've given them a glowing review, if I haven't been there I will have to check it out.
