I am thinking about building a wet/dry sump for my 3 tanks (55,75,30 ), I have looked at a pump that has 1150gph flow, and will be using a large rubbermaid tub for the sump. Is it as simple as splitting the plumbing (returns and drains) with T's ? I have never used 1 sump for multiple aquariums and would like some input from someone who has.

That is the basic principle. I split a 3600+gph put to 8 tanks for a total of 400 or so gallons all running to one sump. just make sure you size the plumbing right. Feel free to post up a drawing of your design and we'll be glad to help you out.

If you have some time, check out the Indy DIY Guys thread. You can see my setup. I just redid it the last few pages.

sounds like it would work to me. as long as your overflows werent drasticaly different flow rates to the point one would overflow, and you have enough room in your sump to support a power outage and any excess overflow that comes with it.

I have my tanks running off of 1 sump only I have one tank overflowing into the next until it reaches the sump. To me it seems easier. You'd just need to stagger the heights of your tanks (this may be impractical for you depending on your set-up). With the flow cascading from one tank to the other I maintain a strong flow rate since I don't have to split the return.

Hmm, never thought of that, I definately could do that with the setup i have, ill let ya know how it turns out. Ive got to get to home depot tomorrow to get the diamond drill bit for my overflows

Let us know if they have them. I always thought you had to buy them at glass shops, fish shops or on-line.
