Hey everyone, this is my first post and I wish it was an introduction rather than a problem.
I have a 130 gallon tank that I have had my fish in for a week now (I transferred them from my 50 gallon). The water seems to always be this milky murky whitish colour and I can kind of see white particles in the water. When I clean the tank I can also see white residue and spots that attach themselves to my filters spray bar and heater and what not. I have been doing a number of water changes to see if it clears anything up, but it never seems to. I'm not sure if it's a case of needing another filter or more powerful filter, but the one I have says it can be for a 160 gallon tank.
I've read through some other posts that seem like the people have had a similar problem, but I figured I would post this with some pics.
Here is my setup:
130 gallon tank
Eheim 2075 ultra G160 pro filter
Fluval 305 filter (which I only had on there to help cycle this tank because it is from my 50 gallon one)
2 200W heaters
Aircompressor/ bubbler
Sand substrate

Fish:
1 Giant Gourami (9")
2 Tiger Oscars ( 4" and 2")
1 Jack Dempsy (9")
2 Blood Parrots
2 Tinfoil Barbs
3 Bala Sharks (2")
2 Rainbow Sharks (3")
1 Kissing Gourami
1 common Pleco

Thanks for the help!

You likely didn't rinse ur sand enough before putting it in the tank therefore it will take a couple weeks to get out. Just keep on bi weekly wc and put a fine filter floss in ur filter to catch fine particles.

I have done a whole bunch of water changes (probably 5 30-40% ones) since I put the sand in so I thought that would have cleared it up. I'll try the fine filter floss because all I have running in my filter right now is the media that came with the Eheim 2075. The particles have been a bit ridiculous, even to the point that I thought it was ich because they were resting on my oscar but then went away when he moved fast.

Some sort of algae or bacteria bloom?
Weird.
I can tell you this, water changes wont hurt. Cleaning the glass and looking at what came off the glass under magnification may shed some light on what it could be. Smell it. Does it have a smell?
One time back in the day, I used Vasaline to lube the o-ring on one of my pumps housing and it got into the water column and looked like Ick. Another time I fed some deep fried shrimp to my Oscar...I know, I know....anyway, the oil created a slick on the surface of the tank and turned into little white dots that stuck to the surface of whatever they came into contact with.

Its probably not anything you did, probably something in the tank before you got it or maybe in the water supply.
One time I was sanding some PVC pipe in the garage and the PVC dust got in the tank..........

The more I am reading it's starting to sound like it is a bacterial bloom because the tank is still cycling and it should eventually clear itself up with regular water changes and vacuuming. All my water tests are coming up good so hopefully this is the case that it will clear itself up.
