Hi there :) i am wondering will it be possible to keep Murray cod (Maccullochella peeli) here in the uk? i have heard that they are cold hardy and can become quite large in size

Quite large yes though not too sure about them being cold hardy.Do you intend to try keeping them in an outdoor pond?

i ws thinking about keeping one in a tank to start with and then transfer it to a pond when it was larger

Hi im from aus and had a few over the years im growing one out now hes about 3.5 inch and eats gold fish more than half hes size can not put with other fish as they are very aggresive as for cold water they can tolerate cold water down to about 12-15c no lower as in winter here it gets down to 10c or lower so good luck if you plan to keep inside temp 24c and a tank at least 8x3x3.

so a standard cold water tank will be fine? and would any one know of a uk supplier?

cold is ok just keep within the extremes the cod just wont be as active or eat as much and grow slower witch is probaly a good thing.
