Can you put muscle clam Shells the ocean in fresh water tanks if so what do you have to do to clean them?? Boil them for a while to clean them from all the salt or what

I'm sure boiling them will get all the nasty off, and the only downside is that fish could potentially cut themselves on the shells if they're sharp from breaking or at the edges.

While they didn't come from the ocean, I've got a bunch of mussel shells sitting at the bottom of my aquarium from feeding a puffer.

Yes its safe. as he said they need to be cleaned and dried. Could do it in the sun since its gonna be in the 90's in albany. As long as they aren't sharp they won't harm the fish
