get pickerel, and then you dont run into the problem of "them getting too big"
they look the same, and act the same, but stay under 16"

pickerel would be a good idea. They pretty much are the same fish but smaller. different markings but same nasty teeth and aggression. They do get bigger than 16" though. I've caught them pushing 30" and almost 5lbs.

sorry, yeah, chain pickerel can get much larger
i have grass pickerel, they shouldn't get over 16" (same for redfin)
