woke up this morning to find my female jag had laid another batch of eggs (no male), chocolates were lip locking and doing the dance, and then my wife says what are your silver dollars doing? look over and two of the eight were spawning i just couldnt believe it. the jag eggs always just end up being food for something i would assume her or the spotted raphael. the chocolates got me a little excited, but being a community tank i am not holding out much hope for the silver dollars spawn. it was neat to see though. :D

wow never heard of a successful spawning of a silver dollar good luck

i doubt i will ever find any babies as they seem to be egg scatterers. i see them shimmying next to each other then the female will jerk for lack of a better word, then they seperate for a few seconds and start in again. all the while chasing everything in the tank away. they seem to be doing it mostly on one end of the tank, maybe i can put some egg crate down there for the eggs to fall into to protect them from predation until i have wigglers then syphon them out. sounds like a fall project!
