Pretty cool......Are they dyed that way or is that a natural effect? Reminds me of emperor scorpions....

They have a gene that was developed to aid scientists watch the growth and spread of cancer. the gene was derived from deep sea jellyfish that glow and it was injected into the embryos of mice that then came out glowing entirely green. this has now been done with fish and rabbits but i did not think about its applications in axolotls.
 
I used to use GFP, among others, when I worked with stem cells in a spinal cord injury lab. Very useful for getting specific cell bodies (neurons) to show up under a microscope...

Neat looking little guys.
