Set this up because the previous inhabitant ( a beautiful male con with great personality) jumped out and killed himself. =[
So this is junior. The crayfish I picked up a few days ago. I modified the filter for the low water level and stacked some spare slate to give a small land section.

He is eating lettuce and also loves shrimp pellets, market shrimp and algae wafers. He even ate some flake food and a massivore pellet. His diet will mainly consist of lettuce and shrimp pellets along with algae wafers. Any thoughts or ideas? I think the tank is a little boring and I'm not sure what I should do to make it look better.

I was thinking of adding pothos and maybe some other plants. I thought of moving the slate a little forward to hide the roots. I'm worried the cray would eat the plants though. I might try it with some cheap plants and if he eats them I will use plastic ones.

My blue eats all the live plants i ever plant in his tank. I even got a clay pot and planted some swords in it but he some how got into the pot and ate the stems and all I had was floating leaves lol There cool little guys GL with it!

By the way this guy is huge for a cray and about to molt. The tank is 20 inches long to give you perspective. He is probably about 5 inches head to tail and has a 2 inch claw.

in my cray tank i only use fake plants and driftwood so that they don't tear apart any live plants... seems no live plants will last long with crays in the tank...

I might put in some fake plants and driftwood for him to climb on. He spends like 40% of his time out of the water. It would be cool to see him crawl around on branches. I'm surprised how active he is.

Tank looks sweet! I wouldn't get too worried about adding more stuff to it. At this point it's more of a function>form just in that you don't want to give this guy any way possible of climbing out. I hear of so many crays getting out and dying.. sucks. :(

I assume you have some kind of mesh top on there with a rock or weight to make sure he can't figure out some way to get out, right? lol

The tank is sealed with plastic to keep the humidity high.

Personally i like the idea of driftwood and fake plants in my cray tank... since i know mine do like to climb and move around a fair bit...
