Looks like an aquaria wall unit, nice idea. Do some strong framing and you should be cool. If you know how to make cabinet doors go for it...if you don't, look into stock doors and drawer. That way, you can build to the specs of existing doors and drawers. Good luck and post pics as you build.

totally, yeah - i'm retro-fitting an existing work bench, shelving system.

Looks like it should work as long as there is adequate bracing. What does the inside of the cabinet look like?

10 2x4s, the rear ones screwed into the wall at the studs.

will that support the weight?
