My 125 canopy

[Mythic Figment]

I just finished building the canopy for my 125 gallon tank. 6' long, 7" tall and 19" deep. This is my first canopy build. I would have built the stand, but the tank I bought came with a nice stand.

Still have to seal the inside. Going to silicone the gaps between the 1x4s and then seal the wood with spar urethane. The outside will be painted black to match the stand.

Thanks. I am a perfectionist, so I have some small issues with the build, but it works and doesn't look awful, so I am pretty happy with it. LOL

It is made out of 1x4s, so it only weights 20-25 pounds. I will post more pictures later today. Will be making some headway in the painting/sealing department this afternoon after work, so I'll try to get some more before and after pics up.

That's really nice! When I made my hood I used 2 x 4s so its sturdy but pretty heavy. Are you going to stain it? Also I'd recommend adding a locking mechanism like a slide bolt. It makes it much easier to move the hood with out the "door" opening.

Good job, like the way you hinged the top. 1x4's sounds good to help with the weight, I'm planning on building one soon and may go that route too.
