The original stand was store bought (particleboard), and was damaged in a basement flood. This was my first attempt at building a stand. I feel like it is much stronger than the store bought stand. It is constructed with 2"x4"s and 5/8" plywood. I put 1/2" insulation board under the tank. Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions for future builds. That is pretty damn impressive for a first time build. Mine pales in comparison lol

Thank you, I'm thinking of trying my hand at a Marine set up next. I have been checking craigslist looking for something in the 36" to 48" long range (40-90 gal). I'll either have to build a stand for it or refinish whatever it comes with. I would like to build a canopy as well. Should be interesting.

Just what I've been looking for! Thanks! Was wondering if I could build a 125 stand w just 2x4s. Most sites say 2x6 for the top box. Don't wanna buy extra wood when I have a ton of 2x4s laying around.

I had originally wanted the front open with no obstructions so I could get a 36" long sump under there. Now I might use that on a different aquarium so I may be adding a center post in the front opening. I have been measuring the front opening and it hasn't changed but I think I would feel better with a front center post, even if it is just a 2x2.
