I came home from work and he was alive and i took a nap and he was upside down when i woke up :[
im trying to figure out what caused him to die, he was in a 100g tank with 3 florida gars and 2 12" delihizi .
i tested water and ammonia was 0 nitrite was 0 and nitrate was kinda high, it was red on the test kit so im going to guess 40-60ppm i have always done weekly 50% water changes on this tank so im not sure why nitrates where a bit high but i dont think thats what killed him since all the other fish seem fine.
i cleaned my canister in hopes of lowering nitrates i just changed out 2 filter floss pads and the coarse sponge and didnt touch my ceramic rings , i will test the water tomarrow and depending on how nitrates are i will do my normal 50% . (i would do it today but i read its bad to do a water change on the same day as a filter clean)
i took some photos of my ornate [Warning dead fish]
he had some some red spots on his belly and 2 spots on the inside of his mouth.
i only had him for a few moths and i only saw him eat a few times , i tried a few kinds of food but he wouldnt eat ass much. i feed the tank before i go to bed and turn the lights of so i assumed he would eat a bit.
i was just wondering if anyone had any idea on what could have gone wrong, he was my largest bichir and it sucks to lose him.
