Hey~

Thanks to Barley Pop (The rayman) I am switching some things up, I have had my Sajica, etc in my 75 upstairs and had my 150 as a Mbuna tank, well, I am thinning out my herd of Mbuna and moving them to the 75 (See different post), but this is what will be in the 150, and I am thing of some other folks and want to see your advice.

2x-Archocentrus sajica (Pair)
2x-Cryptoheros cutteri (Pair)
2x-Hypsophrys nicaraguensis (Pair)
5x-Dwarf Crenicichla compressiceps
1x-Heros efasciatus (Turquoise)

Now I am getting 2x-(2.5-3")Hypselacara temporalis (Peru Chocolate Cichlid) and was thinking what else should I add? Severum? or Geo?

This is a standard 150 gallon tank (125 footprint, but higher) with a 3M color quartz base (sand) in the T grade.

I will have acces to the following:

Honduran Red Point 1"+ (Maybe...)
Cryptopheros Nanaluteus young adults (Might not be aggro enuff for my "Candyland")
Peruvian Redhead Severum 1 1/2" (Hmmmm)
Brazillian Redline Severum 1"+ (Hmmm again)
Neetropus nematopis 1 1/2" (May be too aggro if they pair)
Peruvian Redhead Severum 3" (Hmmmmmm again - better as my Turq is a 5" Hog)
Geophagus Peachface (Tapajos II ) 1 1/2"+ (Very Interested)
Geophagus Abalios 2"+ (Very Interested)
Firemouths (ahhhh, anyone can have FM's)

Thoughts? Im leaning toward the Geos.......Esp since I have Sand!

I have never had Geo's yet but I love their coloration....they would be a good choice

With the two Chocolates in there personally I don't think you've got too much room left, especially considering you've got 3 breeding pairs of fish in there. Personally I think Geophagus look and do better in shoals or as part of a group, so with your tank setup I'd probably go for a Rotkiel (Redheaded) Severum.

If you don't mind keeping a Geophagus by itself, go for the Abalios, great looking Eartheater and the size difference compared to Tapajos will help. You've got great taste in fish and you're obviously experienced, if you think you can fit a trio of Tapajos in there, go for it (I just did).

If the Chocolates pair up you're possibly in for some trouble too, very docile fish when they're solo, but breeding pairs utilize their body size and cause problems. You may find at some point down the track that you're going to need either a bigger tank, or less breeding fish. Just be prepared for that when you put all of these paired fish together, that's my main advice.

Thanx~ Been doing this for 26 years now! LOL! But you are always learning ya know? Maybe I break it down to 1 Chocolate, then do a group of Geos... Paechface huh? I was leaning that way... Repair has some sweet chocolate and I love their adult coloration, I was/am praying for 2 females or 2 males due to the Breeding.

Still Confused but leaning.......

Nuthman~

I think geos would look really nice.

Are dwarf pikes compatible? I'm not sure they like each other.

FSM~

I have had this group of (5) Dwarf Pike Crens for about 6 months going from a 20L to a 55 to a 75 now to a 150, slight conspeific aggression but the tank size has made all the difference, plus I have gone to PetSmart and bought these "Ballinese Lanterns" from their premade decorations and they have all taken over ownership of their own, I was worried at first, but they have a built in heirichy, and luckly for me it has worked. I would upon first glance have been more cautious with them, but tank space put them where they are and it has worked to this day. Plus the larger less aggressive nature of the tankmates has IMHO also kept them in check.....

Nuthman~

Im not gonna do the FM's, the list is what I was thinking of, but was available to me! I may have access to Aureum as well.......Im leaning towrd the Geos....
