Hi everyone. Long time fish keeper but first time owner of a flowerhorn. It's about 5" and picked it up at my local fish store. I was in love with the fishes body shape, and fins. I'm big on frontosa and to me this fish looked like an exotic variant of cyphotilapia. Anyway some questions i have are:
is anyone able to tell if this fish is male or female from the pic or video? the store owner said male but what does he know right?!! LOL!!
Can anyone identify the "type" of flowerhorn it is?
Also want to know if i can expect a color change or pattern formation and if so when does that usually occur? Wondering if this fish will get any red in it?
Also does the kok look like it has any sort of potential for a fish this size?
Curious to know if i have a quality fish on my hands or not. Thanks for looking and any help is greatly appreciated!
p.s. for anyone worried about the red severum getting harrassed in the tank i put it in there only temporarily for the videos purpose of having my flowerhorn display itself to better help a positive identification. the severum has been removed and is happily alive in it's own tank. thanks again for looking.
