I am beginning my planning on a 10 gallon Nano. I work at an LFS and up until a few months ago took care of our SW tanks on a daily basis. Though the large scale is much easier to control than the Nano. Though in my case I have to house my tank in my dorm room and the max tank size I can have is 10. So here goes my first attempt at a nano.

Supplies I have.

1.Tank AGA 10 gallon.

2. Millenium 2000 as a fuge
OR
An old HOB overflow box that I may mod into a fuge.

3. Saltwater Master Test Kit.

So what I need help with is choosing lighting and powerheads and advice on how to make the fuge. I have read the DIY fuge out of an AC110 on RC and am planning on using that as a template on my millenium unless thats not doable.

As far as stocking I know I would like a pair of clowns and maybe some shrimp and some snails. Also a sea star or conch to turn over the sand.

This 10 gallon will be temporary until this summer when it will be moved and expanded into a 29 or 30 gallon nano with a sump.

I anyone has a light suitable for FOWLR and maybe some soft corals that they would want to trade for a 20 Hex complete setup and an ExoTerra 24x18x24 let me know:headbang2

You would b e getting ripped off bad there. If all your worried about is the fish go and get yaself a cheap fluro from a lighting or hardware store. Cost ya $10-20 probs. Not sure with US prices though but around that.

So just a regular Perfecto Strip will suffice for just live rock and fish? I am planning on adding corals once I have the Nano way of life down. I don't want to end up frying a few hundred dollars worth of coral with chemical swings in the beginning.
