I have had poly's now for about 2 years or so and found my 1st one on the floor! A buettikoferi that I got recently..He looked dried out and crusted..some what encrusted on the tile..I poked him with the net and he didn't move..I proceeded to scoop him up with net and saw very slight move..So I put him in tank in the net and he didn't move and was upside down..I turned around to do some thing and he was right side up with slight gill movement..I let him loose and he went down and gasped for air and went in hid tunnel...It's been about 6 hours and he's still alive and came out tunnel after lights out! I hope he makes it threw this! the lid wasn't open or anything...no idea how he jumped out..pretty tight lid and taped openings!

They'll do that pretty amazing...I had my Endli Jump and luckily I heard her struggling. I covered her escape route and next night she bashed right through....It's fantastic your Bueat is ok

hope your bichir is ok. a while ago one of my bichir disappeared. i just thought one of my other fish ate him cuz i just got him and he was small. the tank was covered good so i didnt think that he got out. then when we moved about 6 months later i found his dried up body behind my tank. before i couldnt look over there cuz the thank is right next to the wall with only about a 3 in gap in the back and too much wire.

i had the same thing happen to 2 ropefish! neither made it - this also happened to my lungfish once - it was out the tank for a while i guess as it was looking pretty sorry for itself - the lungfish survived and i had it for years afterwards until a powercut in the middle of winter :irked:

Glad he's doing good! Nothing like catching them just in the nick-of-time!
I just had two in the same tank jump(at night). Found the bigger one the next morning out in the center of the carpet(stuck to it), thought the other was just hiding...until feeding time, then knew something was up. Found him next to the wall, poor dear blended in with the *ack* wood paneling once he dried up... :-(
