I came here in search of somebody with a knife fish that swims in fast circles all over and around the place like hes chasing his tail.
The only thread i found on here listed that his fish swam in circles then died. nothing else. Wasnt any detail.
Its a 55 gallon with 1 red turq discus some corys, and ever since i added a school of clown loaches hes gone nuts like hes got adhd and hes now got playmates.
It was funny when i fed them blood worms earlier. He was trying to play and 3 of the baby 1 inch loaches formed a frontal permiter and the knife fish backed down. lol
Ive only seen fish circle during mating. Ive owned 2 long ago, and i saved this guy out of a begginers cichlid tank.
As im typing hes spinning perfect 360's with his mouth almost touching his tail.
I think for once i might just have the perfect ballance of fish on the compatable fish scale.
hes been in a lot of different tanks, as i didnt have a specific home for him at first, and hes lived in discus tanks, plec collection tanks, blue cobalt, red tailed sharks..mean little sob's by the way.
This time i decided i wanted to see what clown loaches are really like so i got enough to school. They seem to play with the knife fish.
My question remains though. WHY do they loop in circles. Hes even abandoned his tube and dark hiding place.
Ive got maybe 5 tanks and cant afford to get him his own. I love schooling my fish. Even school my plecs. Plec school of 6 with a red belly school of 6. Its hilarious watching the cocky attitudes the plecs get....Theres just so much you miss compared to say a single schooling species tank.
Any of you guys ever school a pack of ghost face knife fish. Black with the white and black striped tail?
also what other odd behavior have you witnessed these amazing little creatures do?
Thanks,
I registered on the site just to ask about my spinning friend. lol
